Our Newest Children!
Michelle, age 2, and her brother Carlos, age 4, came to us about two months ago. This has been quite an adjustment period for them, but they are fitting in very well and are feeling like "part of the family". Michelle is the youngest girl we have at the Casa and she and the staff are working on "potty training"!
Gaby & 5 yr. old brother, ArnoldIn our last letter we introduced you to Victor, age 7, Arnold, age 5, and Sergio, age 3, who were brought to us by the local Social Services. Their father has been sentenced to 13 years in the local prison for drug sales. Their mother has been in prison for several years for drug use and sales. The drugs have affected her physically and mentally. The boys had been staying with grandparents who are unable to care for them any longer. In June, Social Services brought their older sister, Gabriela, age 9. She is very troubled emotionally and it is apparent that she has suffered physical and sexual abuse. Pray for her emotional & spiritual healing. ANSWERS TO PRAYERS!!We asked you to pray that God would raise up house parents for us. This dream has become a reality! Starting this month, Dan & Karina Rasmussen, who have been staff members of the Casa de Ninos for several years now, have agreed to become the house parents for the girls. They have moved into the apartment on the 2nd floor of the dormitory, where the girls live. Another couple from Tepic, Arturo and Esther, have prayerfully agreed to become the house parents for the boys. We have been working on renovating three rooms on the main floor of the Home to be used for their apartment. This work should be completed within the next month, and within 2 months they will officially be the boy's house parents! "Emy's Baby, Paul"
Look at me!! I am enjoying holding the Casa's newest grandchild! Paul was born on May 5th to Emy & husband, Antonio. Emy is the oldest of 8 children who were brought to us over 12 years ago. She grew up at the Casa and met and married, Antonio, a local Christian man. In May of this year the Lord blessed them with Paul Abdiel…one of the "Casa's" grandchildren! Sara, who is standing behind me, is the youngest of this family of 8. She will be 14 years old this month. Isn't this a neat family?
