Projects!
Here are a few of the many current projects that your group could pray about!
Canning/Preserving WorkshopCasa de Niños is trying to find ways to be more self sufficient, and save money on healthy eating! We now have a greenhouse, and are starting to grow some of our own vegetables.
One very fun and useful project for a group to undertake would be to bring down some people that are knowledgeable in the art of canning and preserving, and put on a workshop for the Casa workers and some of the single mothers in the community that we are helping out. Salsas, canned tomatoes, pickles, and whatever else you could think of! |
Rain Gutter/Storage SystemSomething that we get a lot of down here in central Mexico is rain!
We don’t have any rain gutters on the main building, so the water just runs down the front of the building, causing a lot of moss to grow, and making us have to repaint the Casa de Niños logo frequently! Also when it rains hard, the sidewalk in front of the building, while covered by an overhang, still gives you a nice shower on the way to the boys dorm, dining room or the office! We would also love to take advantage of God’s gift of water, and store the rainwater for use in the kitchen, or greenhouse irrigation, chickens etc. |
Playground upgradePlaygrounds are a great place to have fun with your friends, get some good exercise, and develop confidence and motor skills!
The playground equipment here at Casa de Niños is getting old…. As you can imagine, the sun, rain and humidity takes its toll on even the best materials! Maybe your group would like to give it an upgrade? Adding and or replacing some of the pieces with better, safer, rust and corrosion free fun! Maybe even building a fort, or a climbing wall! Think back to when you were a kid, (that’s pretty far back for some of us!) and let your imagination do its work! Woohoo!! |
